Hello friends and family and people that I have not met yet. Summer is winding down and I've got some news to share.
Physically, I have had really good results this year from all the different approaches that I am addressing health and wellness through. The cancer is now isolated to my breast, but it's also on the skin. The sites of metastasis that I was dealing with last summer at this time have all cleared up, including in my liver. However, I learned that skin spread is common with HER2 positive type breast cancer. As a result, the surgical discussion has been put on hold, and I will be progressing to the next line of treatment which comes with the potential for worsening side effects and more impact quality of life, called Enhertu. This will require a chest CT every six weeks to monitor for lung Inflammation. Emotionally, this has been really hard. I think I got too excited and too attached to the potential of surgery, and when it was taken off the table I was really disheartened. My oncologist has said that he is confident this next, more aggressive line of treatment, will be effective at targeting the cancer that remains in my breast and on the skin and I will be able to go back to the maintenance treatment that I've been on since January at some point. Perhaps I'll need to do this aggressive treatment for for 3 to 6 months, it all depends on how my body responds, how the side effects go and how the cancer responds to the treatment . This starts next Tuesday, August 29 and will continue every three weeks.
Stay tuned for a new post on the tail end of this one, detailing all the things I've been doing. Please feel free to share this information with others that are facing health challenges. We need to take our health into our own hands and educate ourselves.. It's up to us to reclaim our own health, despite whatever health challenges we face.
May you be happy, may you be healthy, may you be safe, may you be well.
Many blessings,
Annette
